Environmental Guidelines
for Brasil Round 8
The environmental guidelines
are a result of ANP´s work, in conjunction with Federal
and State Brazilian Environmental Agencies, in order to
provide information about the environmental licensing process.
The documents detail procedures, point up the related
legislation and give technical information about the requirement
level for environmental licensing, local ecosystems and
other socio-environmental aspects in each offered area.
These guidelines are revised and updated
every bidding round to keep track of the policies evolution.
The creation of new protected areas, the evolution of ecosystem's
knowledge, the exploration and production technologies development
and the social and economic reality are dynamic factors
that directly influence the level of requirement for environmental
licensing. Therefore, it is very important to consult this
information, even for blocks that have already been offered
in previous rounds.
The Environmental Guidelines for Brasil
Round 8 were released on October 6th. The event focused
on representatives of Brazilian and international companies
who are interested in Brasil Round 8, as well as representatives
from service suppliers and environmental consultants, among
others.
During the event, representatives of Instituto do Meio Ambiente
de Alagoas (IMA/AL) and Centro de Recursos Ambientais da
Bahia (CRA/BA) presented the environmental guidelines for
onshore blocks at Sergipe-Alagoas and Tucano Sul basins,
respectively. The guidelines for the last one were prepared
in accordance with Secretaria de Meio Ambiente e Recursos
Hídricos da Bahia (SEMARH/BA).
For offshore areas, the IBAMA - Instituto
Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis,
in conjunction with ANP, elaborated the Guides for Environmental
Licensing of Seismic and Drilling Activities for Offshore
and Transition Areas.
